If you are new to the game, this migh be a guidance to you:
Project-Entropia is not a single player game. This means that every other avatar you see in Project-Entropia except NPC's (Non player controlled) are real people who also are playing the game. This furthermore means that everyone usually are busy doing stuff when you approach them. Therefore there are some guide lines as to how to behave in Project-Entropia. Think of it like this: Dont do anything in Project-Entropia you wouldn't do in real life.
Approaching people:
When you approach people in Project-Entropia it is always nice to do so in a friendly way. Dont rush infront of a person before you start talking. Stand at a distance and say the persons name. That will usually attract the other persons attention. If this fails, you could consider using capital letters, this is the virtual way of shouting. But remember, It isn't polite to shout in real life, and neither is it in Project-Entropia.
Speaking with people:
When you speak with people in Project-Entropia always try to use a polite tone of voice. Dont demand anything, nor threaten people. Again, remember participants are often involved in something when you start speaking to them. A good start line could therefore be: "Im sorry but...". The use of the word sorry lets the person you are speaking to know that it is up to him to answer you and that you dont demand anything.
Asking for something:
If you ask for something you must clearly let the person, who you are asking something from, know that you would aprecitiate any help he has to offer. It is again not adviced to demand anything. If you would like to know something about mining it could be done like: "Im sorry but could you please help me learning the basics of mining? I'm new to PE". The lines showed here are from my private chat log, and wouldn't you know, I helped the person to mine as well as gave him some mining equipment. Another example from my chat log wich basically is asking for the same is: "I am new to the game. I would like to mine. Can you give me something". Needless to say, this person dident get anything from me as I felt cornered. My reply to this were somethign like: "PE is like the real world. This is real money. Dont beg. Goodbye". So, be nice and people will be nice towards you.
Trading:
Trading the old fashion way is a very dangerous thing to do. A great number of people tend to shout their selling message out in the blue. This is not advised. If you see a person spamming the same selling message over and over he often wont end up selling his items. People tend to shout out messages if they are spammed. So select you selling message with care and dont spam it over and over. If no one replied the first time you said it. Chances are even lower they will do it the second or third time you do it. Another thing which is ill adviced when trading is trying to open up trading windows before you have asked the potential buyer if he want the item first. Think of this as a seller in real life placing a watch on your wrist and saying that will be $20. When people do this I always open the trade window and when they have placed all their items in the trade window I press accept. I have not asked for anything. But I will be happy to accept any gifts.
General language:
The general language in Project-Entropia should not contain too many internet slang abbreviations. Sentances like: "Any1 w4n7 2 B my hun7in6 m8" are just plain confusing for anyone beside the person who wrote them. Do it in soc chat if you are a member of a soc or do it in a private chat. Please dont do it in the public chat.
Dont expect to get anything from a kill you werent invited to help killing:
If you see a hunter killing a monster. Dont start firing at it expecting you will get something when its dead, unless the hunter has asked you to help.
Be understanding:
If someone dosent understand what you are asking about, please remember this virtual universe is used by people from different nationalities. Not everybody has English as their primary language. Help them, they will remember the person who has helped them. I have helped several lesser English skilled people and it has proved to be a very cleaver "investment". Not only have I found some really nice friends from it, but some of them turned out to be really good players in Project-Entropia. Now they help me...
All those "rules":
It might seem a little strict with all those guidelines. But they can be boiled down to: behave, and use your brain.
Happy gaming :D
