As many of you know, I have two specific (and numerous minor) work descriptions – Community director and Concept development manager. During the last few weeks the focus have been on the latter of the two, with the major overhaul of the current crafting system in Project Entropia. Myself and four other people on the design team have been analyzing and evaluation the current situation and what our vision is. Many hours have been used to go through the various ideas and suggestions received from the community in order to meet the demand of all of you, as well as keeping it within the scope we have to work with.

The crafting profession today is somewhat limited and difficult to get ahead in. We want to change that. One thing that will come is for crafting-only item areas, where using crafting is the only way to acquire certain attractive items. There will be additions on a new kind of blueprints, which will add never-before-seen items to Project Entropia. We are looking at the component/equipment areas and want to make that a lot more enjoyable. Also, some sort of drain feature in regards to the new items is also looked into. Long term (not coming in VU 7.6) we are looking at the feasibility to add factories, with machines, employees and large-scale construction of consumable items. It is not improbable that we will add ammunition manufacturing to the community, where ammo makers can add bonuses to ammunition, to make them better than the TT ammo supply. But now I get ahead of myself. There are so many cool ideas floating around here.

On some other notes, we have solved the much annoying “Empty FAPping”. It sometimes occurs when you change between items quickly and the server fails to register the change fast enough. This update comes in VU 7.6 as well.

We are also looking into a big annoyance with the Revival Terminal and Teleporter killings – PvP will be removed from these areas and safe zones will come. We are looking into the prospect of allowing landowners to shut PvP on and off, but that is still being investigated, so no promises there, yet.

Well, I am signing off for a month, as I go on vacation today. I’ll probably be checking the boards from time to time, but overall, I intend to me in the real world for a change, before returning into a very exciting fall season.
