There are several models and choosing is not easy when you are new and of course you should choose an armor that you like! However, there are a few things you might like to keep in mind!
Do not buy from the TT!
TT armor is cheap but also useless, gives you very little protection and a pretty high decay. That is not what you want! :(
Do not overdo it
Don’t run into the auction and buy a nemesis or anything a like cause as long as you are new to the game you will most hunt small and medium mob
What to look for
Look on the armor stats, what actual protection that model offers you, every model differs in some way.
Also look at the “duration” that value tells you for how long the armor will endure before needs to be repaired
Suggestions
As a new arrival, you should look for Pixie and Goblin armor (imho)
They booth offers you a decent protection at a reasonable cost
After spent some time in the game you might start to look at some upgrade, the most common model found among the players is the Rascal model.
Rascal gives you a very good impact protection and a high duration.
However, there is of course many other good models and if you have a special need for some kind of protection, say cold or electric, then you might consider a different approach
