Continuing problems since last VU

Since last VU I can't see the scope properly, interactive panels including PI and loot windows are distorted - logged a support case with MA on good advice from here.
I've had no respnse from MA yet however, and I'm just wondering if perhapps MA have changed the 'goal posts' where graphics cards are concerned without telling anyone. I'm wondering if I need a new graphics card...:mad:

Check the requirements although I think they should be still Ok.
Reduce graphical settings in the options of the client loader to a minimum and try again (no ads, no streaming, ...)
If it then works try to increase graphical settings step by step

Right, I disabled sounds, streaming audio and ads, but I still get a mass of lines where the scope is so that the scope is unviewable, and also a mass of lines beneath the chat window. The category titles is my PI are also completely distorted (you can't read them) and loot windows are still distorted. User terminals (TT, RT, Soc) are also confused when opened up.

Everything else is fine such as terrain and mobs - I can see other AVs and TPs, etc, ok, I can see the chat window ok.

Maybe check first that your monitor is happy to display a different resolution, if it can then change it in the client loader options.

For example if your EU is set to 1024 x 768, maybe try 1280 x 1024 instead. Perhaps the distortions you mentioned are caused by the changes to fonts that MA made this VU, and might display better at a different screen size.

My default setting is 1024 x 768 which was fine up until last VU. I tried one of the other resolutions (not 1280 x 1024) but that didnt do much, but I def' thibnk it's the font changes that are messing things up, although the general chat window is fine. I'll try other settings anyway.

I'm not sure what the graphics chipset is but it is NVIDEA compatible.

Right - I've tried all the screen resolutions that my monitor will handle, but no difference. At the same time MA still won't answer my support query, so it looks like I can't play any more.
I think this is dispicable of MA, they have obviously done something in the new VU that does not work with many participants graphics setup, and I'm at a loss as to what to do.
I'm wondering if I can maybe uninstall the client and then download it again, but something tells me that I would lose everything...

Bummer, sorry to hear it is still not working for you.
Make sure that you have the latest graphic drivers for your card, and that the latest directX is installed.
All your details are kept on the MA server not on your home computer ( except for the private chat log if you have that enabled, then the text log is in the game folder ).
So if you delete and redownload it and reinstall, all of your items and peds will reappear for you. I hope that you are able to get it working again. Good luck. :)

I think you should submit another support case to MA. Let them know you have a serious problem.

Many thanks. I have the latest drivers but not the latest directX, so I'll try that - and I didn't know ALL my details were on MAs server, so at least now I know I can redownload and reinstall if I have to (presumably I'll have to re-enter the same info for my password to work...).

And thanks Bunny, I'll try another support case but I get the feeling MA is covering up on this one.

Yes if you reinstall EU you need to use the same username as password. I know that when I reformatted a while ago, I simply re-downloaded EU and installed it, set up my options at the client loader, entered my password and when EU launched it had kept all my keymap and quickbar settings, and all my items were safely there. The only thing missing was the contents of the chat log, which saves all text from your private messages.

Are you able to post a screenshot of what you are seeing? Or do these pictures look like a similar fault? The pics are from this discussion on EF,

Sadly no solutions were presented there, but at least it shows other people are also having graphics issues, so hopefully MA will be able to fix them.

Speaking about problems: I can't shoot my dear Opalo any more. Message just says that u can use item that is damaged. Do I have too high(/low) skills or is it just a bug?

There is a new feature/bug which means the Opalo breaks at about 50% health. I think this also applies to all TT items with SIB ( enblades, the VivoT1 etc ).
Maybe send a support message to MA, and help convince MA that this is a bug that needs fixing. :Beaten:

It's just that the TT Weapons now have a 50% Condition Limit instead of 3% as it was before. Check it out and you will see... :(

Right just logged in to see where this is now going (sorry if I'm tying everyone up)...

I'll post a screenshot of what I'm experiencing next time via standard PrintScrn and saving as a jpg although I can certainly identify with posts on the EF link.

In the meantime, I quoted some of my setup the wrong way round in my last post....

Turns out I have the right Direct X (Direct X 9.0) but not the right NVIDIA driver - at the moment it's NVIDIA, build 4114 (although as said, I had no problems before the last VU), so seems like I need a later one than 4114...

Anyway to see what I had to do I reviewed the requirements in the download section of the EU client, then clicked on 'minimum system requirements' and then clicked on the 'here' of 'Latest NVIDIA driver - Get it here'.

You are then taken to nvidia.com where there is the option DOWNLOAD DRIVERS.
From this you get a three-part list under the sub-heading START HERE and at the top of this list is 'Graphics driver'..

It is from here that I'm not sure what to select and download. I already have the GeForce FX series driver, so it can't be that one; or do I select another option from the initial list under 'START HERE' ?

If you click the START button, then RUN and " devmgmt.msc " OK it should show your hardware list. If there is a + sign next to Display Adapters can you click the + sign and see what adapter is listed?

Enclosed is EUmessupScreenshot.jpg which is a screenshot of what happens if I open up a TT which as you can see is unusable. Same thing happens with all other terminals and in the Auction.:rolleyes:

It could be... Have you tried to disable AA in the Options (Select "No AA")?

Many thanks. I've tried with AA enabled and also disabled but the problems are the same, even though MA seems to be suggesting (on the posts in the EF link) that it's only those with graphics setups that don't support AA, who are experiencing similar problems.
But if I could tell for certain which graphics driver I should upgrade to from the list at nvidia.com, that would be a starting point. Again, my current driver is NVIDIA build 4114.

then press the GO button, it hopefully will download suitable drivers.
I chose the XP drivers and they gave me this version,

The graphics driver may help, also changing various options such as AA settings or resolution. Hopefully MA have not changed the game so much that it no longer supports some graphics cards, as that really seems dumb for a game company. :confused:

Many thanks for that - and sorry for very, very late reply, only I've been out of EU since my last post as I just simply couldn't play it.
However, I'm now back in the game, and this is what I had to do.
I downloaded the latest nvidia drivers and also increased my RAM from 1024 MB to 2048 MB, and voila, everything was back to normal; I could see the new font, etc.
But I now experience minor sound problems with the streaming audio (music, ads, etc) that breaks up slightly every 10 seconds or so, but I can live with that until I download new audio drivers. Many thanks for all your help ;)

Thanks nexus7 for letting us know how things are going, and I'm glad that your graphics are working again. :)

I've heard a lot of people saying the audio stutters or breaks up with adverts, I think some of the problem is how MA have used Bink as the file format, as it is either demanding on the computer, or it maybe requires extra codecs to work well. In places like Billy Spaceship I've found the adverts unbearable because they constantly stutter.

Yes you shouldn't worry about the sound. MA's problem for sure. I thought it was due to lag but that doesn't seem to be the cause. It must be as Burgerman says.

Actually, since the last VU, or better since I re-enabled sounds, I hear a lot less streaming music or ads. Almost none at all. Only the sound effects are heard fine. Sometimes a music starts then ends almost immediately. Who knows... :confused:

...and here was me thinking, how much more memory do I need!! So, I'm not the only one experiencing audio break-up. I still get the same amount of audio and ads just as before the last VU but the synch' is worse - and I totally agree with bergarman with places like Billy's.

I often use the auction at Omegaton West, but often completely forget what you end up experiencing when consulting the auctioneer.

Usually it starts off with 'My Girl's a Game-Chick...' which I really like, roughly in synch, but then followed by a very broken up 'H, H, Hi - I, I'm M, M, Mike D, Demiro a, a, and I, I'd l, l, like to welcome you to....' Having heard about his studio 'here on planet earth' so many times I've lost count, I usually end up running back out and going to somewhere remote like Solfais Crater.

But for all that, I still like EU enough that I can't quit, so I'm glad I'm back playing.

Also the auction room at Treasure Island central TP is a nice one, as there are NO adverts or annoying music videos there.

Also the crafting terminal at that auction room seems to give some nice results more often than at other auction rooms from my experience.

Think it is nothing real. I know Cafpow from the american TV series NavyCIS. Abby is consuming lot's of this stuff. As far as I read it was invented for the series and is not a real coffee drink.

As to 'To much caffine I think :cool: :rotfl:' ,well that could explain alot, but he also doesn't seem too enthusiastic - he introduces himself so sloooowly it's almost depressing and even more so with the audio breakup, and he's allways followed by Mr Kostabi explaining how he connects up two telephones with a telephone cord.
