Upon accessing the client loader I found out that MA are offering free Gold Cards for everyone that has deposited over PE$5000, but MA also state this:

Quote:

Service Terms - Replacement of faulty Gold Card or Card Reader

MindArk does not warrant that the Entropia Universe Gold Card security system descriptions are accurate, complete, current, or error-free. If the Entropia Universe Gold Card offered to you by MindArk is not as described, your sole remedy is replacement.

I was going to jump at the offer strait away, but then I read this so not sure now...

I think that is just MA covering themselves so that in case a goldcard failed, they cannot be held responsible.

However, I am still using my first goldcard which I purchased soon after they were introduced, and it has been a very reliable card and security system. I would not hesitate to purchase a goldcard, and now that MA are offering them free to depositing players, I cannot see any valid reason not to take advantage of this opportunity.

I have never heard of a player with a gold card having their account hacked/accessed by a scammer/thief. 8)

Tonight I arrived home to find my gold card upon the mat, I paid for it only a few days ago. How happy was I to see the announcement when I logged in? :)

They don't call me Lucky Cee :)

I fully agree with Burgerman. MA cannot and should not be responsible if a reader stops working or something by chance is wrong with the card. I advise everyone to get the gold card. They are the best security in this game. If you global or get something good in loot then you are a potential target for a scammer or hacker. I also have had mine since they came out and have only had to replace the reader when the battery died.

Hmm possibly there should be a little qualification of this. If the free gold card arrives and is faulty upon arrival, then a replacement should be free.
What would happen else? These technologies have been know to be subject to easy static damage, and should this somehow occur in transit, then your account might be stuck in a limbo state where you need your gold card to be activated and can't use the existing method (password).

Maybe you will be able to do this in this circumstance? You could then waive the freebie in favour of not having to replace it and everyone is back to normal and happy.

Time only will tell, but again good one to MA for offering this out so widely.

I've had my reader fail before (and I already have two so I can keep one at work), and MA replaced it without any fuss and for no charge.

I'd take it as legal mumbo jumbo - their lawyers probably insist on it.

Thanks all... Well seeing as it's a virtually free offer as you'd dep PE$5000 in a very short time, I think I'll take up the offer, although MA's declaration seems a bit of a contradiction. I think it's worth the risk.

Mmmm - my Gold Card has arrived in my PI even though of course there is no way that it has physically arrived through my front door. I think this is to let me know it's on the way.
