During the restore, I decided due to a request to set the GRATZ buttons to only appear on the first post in each thread.

I can make this the rule, make them appear on all posts, or make either rule work on individual forums.

What do people think? I get different reports from different people, so I thought; "Good idea for a poll" ;)

Please vote, and if you choose option 3 please discuss which forums you think go in which rule.

I think you should be able to gratz all posts, if someone write something good he/she should be able to be rewarded even though it is not the thread starter. I know there is still an "add reputation" button, but seems like not many people are using that one, or not many people know about it.

I choose Gratz in every post due to having problems with giving rep since I give too much with Gratz :hehe: But what can I say? We are a great bunch of people here on this forum and write wonderful posts ;) I just cannot resist :p

I use the Gratz when I think it is deserved, if someone has accomplished something, if they have said something I agree with or that has caused me to laugh. I do not normally Gratz those who have posted a Gratz message unless it meets one of the above criteria.

I suspect some use it to flag a message as read and I can understand this, there are a lot of messages here and keeping track of where you are can be tricky (I found this particularly true in the Rules of Canley thread when I was keeping track of the current game status) Would an "I have read this" button be a possible addition?

I always gratz the starter of a new thread, after that I only gratz the post if it makes me giggle:eek:

I´m thinking about to vote on the option to gratz on different threats in different ways , nearly all gratzable :D exept such threats wich are for announcing something special like the global/hof threat where it is not mandantory to gratz the gratz. (only the threatstarter there)
But otherwise i have the opinion sometimes if someone take the effort to post something what fits , is nice and not offending , then he has deserved a gratz also.
So i will wait before voting to form my opinion for some days :53:

I gratz on according to how significant it is in regards to the particular post. I only think that's fair as not only the thread starter may have stated something useful, important or funny. Now to piggy back on Chela's comment, I think a I have read this would be useful to those of us who may have forgotten where we last left off.

Looking at Chela's and Yanick's comments here - I think something might be coming to light :)

The forum already keeps track of where you read up to, there is a button at the top 'View First Unread' which will take you automatically to the first post you haven't read in any thread.
Perhaps using gratz in this way is confusing matters?

I had not noticed that! Thanks for pointing it out, it will make life much easier :)

Well the original idea with the Gratz-button was to say gratz to the ppl who got some nice globlas or reached other achivements
So therefor i vote for to only put the button on the first post in each thread

for you who like to show your gratitude to a good post(er) there is a another way, add reputation to the user by using the rep-button (top right on every post)

Maybe the reputation button should be more obvious? I always have to hunt around when I want to find it.

My thoughts exactly. :ok:

These are the reasons for considering having only the first post gratz button, but if most people prefer to have the gratz button on every post then I am cool with that also.

It does seem to be a close call. We have a forum full of some very good EU players, with many post and they get one gratz this way. At least if there were more gratz buttons then it would make up for some of the multiple postings. And I also agree that a gratz for good comments is a good thing. :D

Since it's been gone, I really seem to have missed it, hence I'm voting for it to be on all posts. I can also see the sense though for it to be first post only in the globals forum, and any others that people decide. Hell in fact I got my vote wrong didn't I - I'd better change it to (3)

It is a nice easy way to congratulate someone :) just seems to need a little discretion.

So, the result was pretty tight, but overall members want to see gratz buttons!
They are therefore restored!

I have kinda gone against the grain a little however, and turned them off for the Global's forum, and the news forums.

If anyone's got any particular objection let me know, and I'll consider reverting those too.

But, otherwise - Gratz your little hearts out - there is much gratz to give!

turned them off for the Global's forum
I was thinking it would be a good idea to let Gratz on for the Globals Section because the one who got the global may want to thank the people who gratzed him and posted in the thread by gratzing them thus giving them little rep. What I find annoying about rep is that the forum prevents you from giving too much rep. I understand that this is logical so that's why Gratz buttons could be a good idea for the Globals Forum.

Thx for bringing them back Phunksta! :)
